Who We Are
Westchester Probate Law is an estate planning and probate resource created and maintained by Marc R. Lynde, Esq., an attorney licensed to practice in both New York and Pennsylvania. The site provides in-depth, plain-language guidance on the areas of New York law that most affect Westchester County families: estate planning, probate and estate administration, Surrogate’s Court practice, New York estate tax, guardianship, and trust administration.
About the Attorney
Marc R. Lynde earned his law degree from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York City and his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He is admitted to practice in New York, Pennsylvania, and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and he is a partner at Ballow & Lynde PLLC, with its principal office in Bristol, Pennsylvania.
Marc began his legal career in New York City, where he represented hundreds of clients in hearings and trials before the New York State Workers’ Compensation Board at Pasternack Tilker Ziegler Walsh Stanton & Romano, one of the largest firms of its kind in the country. He spent more than a decade litigating at major firms in New York and Philadelphia, including insurance defense and commercial litigation work at Kaufman Dolowich & Voluck and Marshall Dennehey Warner Coleman & Goggin.
That litigation background gives Marc a perspective many estate planning attorneys lack. He has seen what goes wrong when documents are drafted carelessly, and he drafts with an eye toward anticipating disputes before they arise. The result is fewer problems for families down the road, in Surrogate’s Court and out of it.
How We Serve Westchester County
Westchester Probate Law serves clients throughout Westchester County, including White Plains, Scarsdale, Bronxville, Rye, Chappaqua, Larchmont, New Rochelle, Yonkers, Mount Kisco, Tarrytown, and the surrounding communities. Because the principal office is located in Pennsylvania, New York matters are handled by appointment, including remote and virtual consultations, with in-person meetings in Westchester County arranged as needed.
Our Approach
Marc believes the best legal relationships are built on candor, not upselling. When you work with Marc, you receive straightforward legal information, an honest assessment of your situation, and responsive service. He will tell you when you do not need as much legal work as you expected, and he will explain your options in plain language before you commit to anything.
A Note on This Website
The articles, calculators, and tools on this site are educational. They are designed to help you understand your options before you speak with an attorney. They do not constitute legal advice, and using this site does not create an attorney-client relationship. New York and Pennsylvania law change over time; verify any information here with a qualified attorney before acting.
